Luz Galaviz

Intake Specialist & Legal Assistant

Luz is an intake specialist and legal assistant at Towards Justice working to connect with and support all workers. Luz identifies as a proud Latina from the western slope of Colorado. Luz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Endorsement. Before joining Towards Justice, she worked as an elementary school teacher, where her leadership roles gave her the opportunity to be a strong advocate for her students and their families. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Luz was a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow, she worked to expand resources for bilingual and bicultural students across the state. She was honored to present her advocacy work at the Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS) Summer Institute at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she was recognized with an Estola de Liderazgo (Leadership Stole) for her commitment to her classroom and community. Luz has also been a proud member of the Institute for Teachers of Color Committed to Racial Justice.
