Curbs on Corporate Algorithms Advance in CO

Colorado Bills Take Aim at Corporate Algorithms

We’re excited to share two pieces of good news from the state legislature. Last week, two bills Towards Justice has been supporting advanced through key votes in the Colorado legislature.

The first bill, HB26-1210, would ban surveillance price and wage setting in Colorado. This protection would ensure that the largest corporations in our country cannot use data and technology as a competitive advantage against small businesses, and cannot use private personal data to reach into the pockets of Colorado workers or consumers.

The second bill, HB26-1273, would ensure that the rideshare duopoly pays drivers predictable wages rather than relying on algorithmic manipulation to control the behavior of supposedly independent drivers.

While there is still work ahead before the legislative process is complete, these votes represent meaningful progress toward fairer markets and stronger protections for workers and consumers in Colorado.

We’re grateful to the lawmakers, advocates, and community members who helped move these efforts forward. We’ll continue working to ensure these bills reach the finish line and will keep you updated as the session continues.

Thank you for your continued support.
